A Note from the Purveyor

I'm Marcy, the reader and maker behind Dex Avenue.

I started sewing during nap times and quiet evenings, sewing slowly, by candlelight, the way I wish everything could be made. What began as a creative escape became something I couldn't stop thinking about: a way to make the bookish life I loved feel more intentional. More like mine.

Every book sleeve is cut and sewn by hand in my California workspace. Every sticker is designed with the devoted reader in mind. I work in small batches, one piece at a time, because that's the only way I know how to make something worth keeping.

The name Dex comes from my middle son. I'd always used my firstborn's name for important things, so when it came time to name this shop, it felt right to give my middle guy his moment too. And just like that, Dex Avenue was born.
