A New Chapter, Broody MMC Hours, & DNF Rules

I'm gonna be honest with you. Something isn't working. Well actually, I've had an epiphany that even if Dex Avenue would one day not be here, I would still want to do this. Because even when I have dropped the ball with content or launches, you're consistently here for me. That's why I want this to be a place you look forward to visiting every Sunday, and give you something in return for the support you always show me.

So let's change it up a bit.

Each week I'll curate a reading playlist for you. I'll do my best to mix it up and create something for everyone. We'll talk books, my current read, my TBR, and see what you're reading and recommending.

And I really want to leave you with something of value. Some weeks it'll look like a freebie, a resource, or maybe just something I think you'll like to read. I mean, c'mon, we're all intellectuals over here!

Also, I want to hear from you. I'll leave you with a question to think over till we talk again next week. Or reply back, pen pal! My inbox is always open for you.

Laaaastly, I'll do my obligatory promo bit. I know, I know, but I really think you'll like what I have planned coming up. Plus, it's almost the holidays! Okay, sorry for the long-winded explanation. Let's get into it.

Sunday Favorites:

🎧 this week's playlist: broody mmc hours

Songs about a man who swore he wasn't going to fall in love, then did, then got a little obsessed over them. Moody, reluctant, occasionally embarrassing himself. Warning: a few Hozier-level sexy moments in here too, nothing too raunchy. Best listened in order. Trust me, it takes you on a ride.

📚 what I'm reading:

Finished Dungeon Crawler Carl this week, 2.5/5 stars for me. Nothing against the book, I just don't think I'm the target audience. If you're into Adult Swim-style humor though, you'd probably enjoy it way more than I did.

📄 for you:

I made a little tracker for the 16-book challenge, mostly so I'd stop losing track on random sticky notes and bits of papers. Figured some of you might want one too.A reading planner printable shown on a light warm-gray background, with two planner pages visible: one blank tracking sheet and one titled 'Reading Goal tracker' page. A white pencil rests on the front sheet.

💭 something to sit with:

What makes you decide to keep going with a book instead of DNFing it? Mull it over, we'll talk about it next Sunday.

Shop Talk:

If you've made it this far... thank you, genuinely. This is the part where I get to tell you what I've been making

ink in the margins:

You know, I've asked several times over the months what you want to see from me. And I want to apologize, because I've ignored you for so long. You've told me time and time again you want to see the person behind DA, and yet I still hid. And you've stayed, seeing glimpses of me in between the cracks. I've never had that before, but I know how special it is. So I'm finally listening. Dex Avenue isn't just aesthetically pleasing reading keepsakes. I'm the only one here running it, so it's an extension of me to you.

Happy Reading,
